So, we finally caved and faced the reality that the only way our house would be a usable house anytime soon was if we got some help. Enter our new friends at Conner Remodeling who helped us develop a set of really cool plans and are now banging away on our house daily. After helping us take out the balcony and the other weird bump out on the south wall and get the chimney demo started for us, they are framing things up and putting in a whole set of structural beams to help keep the top floor, well, on top! We still have a healthy to do list ourselves like chimney demo, insulation, painting, window and door trim, bathroom floor tiling, but the good news is that our middle floor will be fully usable and enjoyable by mid-June. Every night we creep upstairs like its Christmas to see the progress that’s been made. Thoughts of a real kitchen, a half bath, the washer and dryer in the house, and a living room and dining room to spread out in are keeping us giddy. Living in our 700 square foot basement space has started feeling a little confining - even after all those years in dorm rooms and small NYC apartments!
